2023: presidential campaign in a shipwreck economy

Should presidential ambition stay a priority where a nation’s economy is a shipwreck? This can be an issue in several Nigerian’s minds as a group of former senators, House of Representative members, and politicians within the southwest launched the ‘Bola Tinubu for President’ campaign for the 2023 election.

A group christened Southwest Agenda SWAGA, Chaired by former Senator Dayo Adeyeye from Ekiti State came along to arrange the agenda for Southwest to provide the succeeding president in 2023.

SWAGA claims that Tinubu possesses all the qualities and skills required to guide Nigeria as the next president. Adeyeye says that there was an agreement among APC leaders throughout the 2015 election that presidential power will rotate to the Southwest after Buhari’s eight-year tenure, as reported by the Nations newspaper.

The presidential campaign majored in visiting rulers  from different cities in Southwest, Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, and Alaafin of Oyo Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi amongst others were visited.

The chairman revealed that the country practices true federalism, saying Nigeria must have true federalism for the progress and development of the country. He says that Yoruba has been at the forefront of exploits and development efforts of Nigeria but there has been no sincerity in Nigerian politics.

The presidential election has been a controversial issue in Nigeria, as several Nigerians don’t buy the concept of a particular political party leading Nigeria in their favor. We want a replacement of parliament, Filled with young individuals to lead Nigeria, the citizen pleads.
