30 years old Lucy Letby, a nurse at the Countess of Chester Hospital, has been charged with 8 cases of murder and attempts to kill 10 more.
The said nurse was arrested and detained earlier in 2018 by the Cheshire Police on similar grounds, after an increase in deaths was recorded at the hospital.
They arrested her with suspicion of killing eight babies and attempts to kill 6 more. She was granted a bail back then, but just got re-arrested after investigations and a search carried out at her house.
The Cheshire police released a statement today, saying: “The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised Cheshire Police to charge a healthcare worker with murder in connection with an ongoing investigation into a murder of baby deaths at the Countess of Chester Hospital.”
The nurse will appear in Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, November 12 to face trials.
