“72 hours to arrest herdsmen” – Edo group

Following the recent killings in Edo state said to be perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen, Talakawa Parliament and Orhionmwon stakeholders had a meeting on the 3rd of February.


Both parties came to a conclusion of giving the herdsmen an ultimatum of 14 days to vacate their farms. A spokesman of Talakawa parliament stated that the presence of this group has put their daily activities on hold and caused them to live in fear and uncertainty especially in Orhionmwon council area of Ugo Community.


In a bid to call the attention of security officials on recent happenings, Marxist Kola Edokpayi, the coordinator of Talakawa parliament had this to say; “The Commissioner of Police (CP) is hereby given 72 hours to arrest herdsmen responsible for the killings in Orhionmwon”


He also encourage Edo people to stop the consumption of beef as a show of disdain against the herdsmens. This has been in line with Edo market women protesters who created road blocks at various markets in Uromi, Esan North area of the state.
