A lecturer with the Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi(UAM) Karl Kwaghger, was brutally killed by unknown armed men on Saturday, Nov 28 Igbere TV reports.

Kwaghger, an Associate professor in Mechanical English department was found in a pool of blood at the premises of the JS Tark Foundation in the Benue State capital.

It was discovered that the deceased was cornered to a dark side of the street by four men around 9:30 pm opposite IBB Square. The assailant hey him on the head with a hard object, then stabbed him severally and slit his throat.

The killers ran away with his Avenza car and mobile phones after killing him.

The spokesperson of the police command in Benue State, Catherine Anne, who confirmed the incident, said the victim has been deposited at the mortuary while investigations are ongoing.

The Head information, protocol and Public Relations of the institution, Mrs Rosemary Waku, confirmed the murders but said they are yet to get full details on the incident.

The police command in Benue says it has arrested the killer Mr Jeremiah Nnamdi, a student of the Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi (FUAM) over the alleged killing of an associate professor at the institution, Karl Kwaghger.

NAN reports that the University don was killed on 28 November at the Tarka Foundation, Gboke, where he had gone for relaxation.

During the investigation, Jeremiah Nnamdi of Umaigwe Village, Imo state, a student of the Agriculture, Makurdi was arrested in Abuja while trying to sell a car belonging to the victim.

Police detectives carrying out an investigation on the scene found the victim brutally stabbed in his ribs and cut on his neck.

The victim was rushed to Bishop Murray Hospital for treatment, where he was confirmed dead and was deposited at the morgue.

According to the police, the suspect has already confessed to the crime, and further investigation is ongoing.

The suspect confessed to the crime and said that his initial intention was to scare the victim with a make-believe gun and rob the victim’s car.

“But he killed him because of his resistance and took the car away,”, the police added (NAN).
