The Federal Government has passed a statement that “there will be repercussions for government officials and Very Important Personalities (VIPs) who disregard travel protocols”
Four days ago, the federal government issued a release of the passport numbers of 100 passengers who failed to take the COVID-19 tests on their arrival into the country, and a travel restriction was placed on the passport holders for six months.
In a video posted by the Ministry of Information and Culture on Wednesday, The National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19, Dr. Sani Aliyu, has promised that officials who fail to adhere to travel protocols irrespective of their personalities will be sanctioned.
He went further to say “We want to change people’s attitude. We have shown that we are going to do it. We have done it and we will continue to do it every week until things change. It is not like we want to punish people, but if you continue to put our country at risk, we will take action”.
“Next week, we will publish another 100 and we will continue to publish in subsequent weeks until there is an improvement in terms of compliance. Hence, whether you are a government official, a VIP, or in a leadership position, if you do not adhere to the travel protocols, there will be repercussions”.
