With an announcement on Wednesday, Snapchat joins Twitter, Facebook and YouTube to permanently ban the US President’s account.
Following the riot on Capitol Hill in the past week, the social media company said the President’s account appears to be a threat to “the interest of public safety”.
“Last week we announced an indefinite suspension of President Trump’s Snapchat account, and have been assessing what long term action is in the best interest of our Snapchat community. In the interest of public safety, and based on his attempts to spread misinformation, hate speech, and incite violence, which are clear violations of our guidelines, we have made the decision to permanently terminate his account,” said a spokesperson of Snapchat.
This makes snapchat the second social media platform after twitter to permanently ban the president. With temporary bans of facebook, instagram and youtube in recent weeks.
