A drunk ex-soldier, Craig Mossop, 52, killed a mother of two, Susan Jackson, 5, after hitting her with his Land Rover, which he was driving at 50mph.
The victim, Susan, was flung 30 meters away from the road. Reports have it that the mother of two was crossing the road in Bolton when she was hit and died on the scene.
The incident which occurred on August 23 has left the husband of the victim depressed.
Susan’s husband, Mr Lockett, said that has a family, they are heartbroken and in total shock and disbelief that his wife has been taken from them.
“We have lost a large part of ourselves and our world.” He added.
The ex-soldier pleaded guilty to the crime. He has been charged for causing death and injury and for not having a license or insurance.
Mr Mossip’s defendant told the court that Mossip is truly sorry for his actions and that Mossip had been diagnosed with PTSD and has struggled with drinks and drugs.
The deceased was a specialist nurse at the University Hospital of South Manchester.
