Mikey Chanel was raised a boy but was born with female reproductive parts. She was diagnosed with Persistent Mullerian Duct Syndrome (PMDS), last year.
It is a condition in which a person has male external genitals with female reproductive organs internally.
According to her, she always felt she was a girl.
The 18 years old mentioned that “It was obvious to everyone that I was different right from start. I never felt like a boy. I was quite effeminate and I never really went through a whole boy puberty thing.”
“I only have a tiny bit of facial hair. I’ve always had a feminine shaped body.”
Mikey who came out as gay at age 13 says her PMDS was diagnosed just last year.
“I had been having a weird feeling after peeing and sex, so they did an ultrasound of my urinary tract. They told me I had a cervix, Ovaries, Uterus and fallopian tubes and I could get pregnant.”
She was advised to have a hysterectomy. Her male parts were infertile, but the ovaries were functioning.
According to her, she has always wanted to have kids, so she decided to try and get pregnant.
Embryos were then placed in her fallopian tubes through a procedure called ZIFT. Since she did not have a vaginal opening, three fertilized Embryos were implanted into her fallopian tube and donor sperm directly injected.
“I was told there was only 20% chance it would work, but it worked. I am shocked but happy.”
“I can’t wait to be a parent. I feel more like a woman now than ever.” She said.
